How to Use the Random Color Palette Generator

Click the "Generate Palette" button to instantly create a beautiful color palette of 5 complementary colors. You can also press the spacebar as a quick shortcut. Each palette is generated in real-time using color harmony algorithms to ensure the colors work well together. If you like a specific color, click the lock icon to keep it while generating the rest of the palette.

Understanding Color Harmony Modes

Random: Generates any colors completely at random, perfect for exploring unexpected combinations.

Warm: Creates palettes dominated by reds, oranges, and yellows. Perfect for energetic, inviting designs.

Cool: Generates blues, greens, and purples. Ideal for calming, professional, or tech-oriented designs.

Pastel: Produces soft, light colors with reduced saturation. Great for gentle, friendly designs.

Vibrant: Creates bold, highly saturated colors. Perfect for attention-grabbing designs.

Monochrome: Generates variations of a single hue with different saturation and lightness values. Ideal for cohesive, minimalist designs.

Earth Tones: Creates natural, earthy colors inspired by nature. Perfect for organic, rustic, or sustainable brands.

Locking and Adjusting Colors

Click the lock icon on any color bar to lock it in place. When you generate a new palette, locked colors will stay the same while others change. You can also click a color bar to fine-tune it using Hue, Saturation, and Lightness sliders for precise control over your palette.

Exporting Your Palette

Once you've created the perfect palette, use the Export dropdown to save it in your preferred format. Choose from CSS variables, SCSS variables, Tailwind CSS configuration, or export as a PNG image. Copy individual colors by clicking the HEX values, or use "Copy All" to get all colors at once.

Common Use Cases

Color palettes are essential for web designers creating cohesive websites, brand identity design, UI/UX development, print design, interior design, content creation, data visualization, and digital art. Having a well-thought-out palette ensures consistency and visual harmony across all your projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I save my favorite palettes?

The History panel keeps your last 10 generated palettes. Click on any palette in the history to restore it instantly. For permanent storage, export your palette as a PNG image or CSS variables file.

What color formats are available?

Every color is available in HEX, RGB, and HSL formats. Click on any color bar to see all three formats, and use the copy button to copy your preferred format to the clipboard.

Why do some harmony modes look similar?

The randomness in palette generation means that occasionally two different modes might produce visually similar results. If you're not happy with a palette, simply click Generate again to try another combination. You can lock your favorite colors and generate new ones around them.
